The Southern Local Government Officers Union is governed by a Management Committee elected by and from the membership. Members have the right to elect Union Liaison Committees and/or Delegates to represent their interests in their workplace, and to participate in Union affairs on behalf of Members. 

The Union's Office Holders Are:  President Paul Cottam (Christchurch City Council) Vice-President, David Duffield (Environment Canterbury) , Secretary Peter Lawson, and Internal Auditor John Robinson (Christchurch City Council).

How We Operate on a Day to Day Basis

Employment Relationship matters in each area of employment are dealt with by the Union’s staff working in conjunction with Liaison Committees and/or Delegates.  For more information about the role of Liaison Committees click here.

The Union operates throughout Canterbury and Otago. The main office is in Christchurch, with a subsidiary office in Dunedin.

About SLGOU Associates

SLGOU Associates is governed by a Governance Committee elected by and from its membership.  The Southern Local Government Officers Union is the Founding Corporate Member of the society.

SLGOU Associates has entered into an arrangement for the Southern Local Government Officers Union whereby both Unions operate out of the same offices, share the same staff, and provide the same membership services over the same range of employers.
